Really? First I ever heard of that. So if it's torqued too tight it causes vibration? This has got my interest since I changed my stock pipes to V&H Dresser Duals over the winter, and I've noticed a vibration during deceleration that wasn't there last season when I put it away. Wonder what the correct torque setting is for that mount?
I just installed the dresser duals a few days ago. My 1st ride I thought there was a vibration in my feet. I noticed it right away. I didn't use the thick washer on the crossover tube clamp. With this washer it didn't allow the pipe be be held tight, so I went without it. I figured if I went with it, it would make rattling noise.
Our RUG is headed into the shop this morning, for the same issue, not sure what it is causing the resonance but whatever it is is worsening and backing screws and bolts out fairly often. Reminding me of the 56 panhead I owned where I had to tighten bolts at every stop..
So I backed off the bolt on the crossover pipe mount a bit, seems that was the problem. The decel vibration is gone. Never would have thought of that, man this forum is handy!!
