Bogie, I don't have an answer for you but I couldn't help but notice the small number of posts you have. I mention that because you have provided us with one of the best submissions I have ever read on this forum and it has been read and referenced thousands of times. I read your LED headlight test before making my purchase and I felt I'd done all the reading I needed to do to make my decision. Thanks.
I did a Google, and while I found numerous posts and articles regarding broken fairing brackets, dating as far back as model-year 2001 and as current as model-year 2008, I could not find an official H-D recall campaign. Most of what I found were people complaining about the problem or a better solution than simply replacing the broken brackets with OEM replacements.
Try this guy out befor its too late. Put these on mine last summer alot cheaper than stock and stronger too. Had to send my radio in to Iron Cross Audio because of vibration damage. All 4 of my brackets were broken. http://www.nwmachine.com/rfw/
Had mine replaced last year, 06 Electra. There was no recall but the mechanic told me that the new part number ended in the letter B. Meaning that the parts had been upgraded twice. Don't know if this helps. Ride safe.
