vrod into street glide
Here is a good link to a place where everyone will contradict what I'm saying. Hell, I'm in those threads somewhere talking about doing the batwing v rod conversion for awhile:

Here is an idea of the batwing on a newer v rod:

This was as far asI went with my 07 VRSCDX NRS before I sold it in favor of the SG:
You will see liquid cooled this year. That can be taken to the bank.
It was neither fish nor fowl.
On the highway, it buzzed and droned and generally did everything it could to exhaust you. Try as I did, I could never make it as comfortable and plush as a Goldwing.
Around town, it had a fast engine, and a thoroughly overwhelmed suspension and chassis. All that weight, sitting up high. The bike was awkward. Terribly awkward.
One time on a cross country trip I encountered another gent who had a similar setup, only his was based on a Yamaha V-Max. We compared notes, and while his bike was faster, overall they were the same. Uncomfortable, awkward, fast.
It was fun and it was interesting having that thing, but I own a Harley bagger now, and it's not an accident. I rather suspect a Vrod based bagger or touring bike would be very much the same
But, if the notion makes your heart skip a beat, than you should definately build it.
It did have its fun points. We've got to go way back in time, back to when Harley was just coming out with that new fangled Evolution engine. That's when I had this Magna monster. It was black and ratty, and frequently mistaken for a Harley (hard to believe, I know). I even rode with some friends who had Harleys. We got it down to an art. Some kid on a KZ or CB or such (I said we had to go way back in time) would be talking trash at the light. We'd pull up, and I'd be hidden in the middle of the pack. Light would turn green, and the kid would take off, smoking the Harleys to show the superiority of japanese motorcycles. The pack would open, and out I'd come. Being young and bullet proof, I'd usually be riding a wheelie, and screaming at about 10-14,000 rpm. There was something about this black monster ripping past that would invariably cause the kid on the KZ to feel the need to turn off at the next street. That was fun, serious fun. Doing that with a VRod bagger would also be serious fun.
