I have a 2013 Road King and had the dealer install a Stage 1 kit, V&H monster rounds, and a Fuelpak. I noticed that the left exhaust pipe is more discolored than the right one (running rich?). I just hit 600 miles and was wondering if its a map issue or does it need to be brought in and looked at? Would like to avoid leaving it at the dealer for anfew days if i can. Thanks in advance for any help
Generally the discoloration on mufflers is caused by your bike running too lean. It's definitely a tuning issue. My guess is that something is not set correctly in the FuelPak.
Do you have a picture? MR mufflers shouldn't show any discoloration because what you see mostly is the chrome heat shield covering it. Or are you talking about the head pipes, which also have heat shields?
If they are getting that hot, to discolor the heat shields, you have a major issue in my opinion.
If you are referring to a discoloration on the inside of the end caps on the Monster Rounds I had the same thing happen to a set of Monster Ovals. It's just film from the exhaust gases and if you use a cleaner it will come right off. At first I thought the end caps were discoloring but I was able to remove the film.
I got my 10k service and my indy checked my plugs and said they look fine so there was no tuning issue with it running rich/lean. I think Dakotazeb is right though, I took some Never-Dull to it and it came right off.
