Got an 03 FLHTI installed a stereo and speakers, this is the standard so it did not come with ratio or speakers, but had the buttons. Everything works but the volume up & down button. Any body got some directions on how to change out this switch? Not much of a electrical person, but would like to save some dollars and do it myself, hell the tiny little switch was $60.00. Thanks for any help!
It's pretty easy, cut, solder the correct wires together (color and stripes) and heat shrink. Don't leave too much extra wire on them, the PITA part is getting it all back together in the housing!
Before you go cutting, check the wiring at the pins using an ohm meter. Most of the time it is a bad connection. Unless the parts are new (and sometimes even then) that is the problem.
When it comes to advice, call Radio Sound and ask them for help. They made the radio and when I had their radio, they were good to work with.
