What are others getting for mileage on the stock D402s?
Maybe more aggressively than you think! My used 07 got all of 7300 miles out of the stock rear and I almost fell over. I don't know how the PO rode it but the tires were severely under inflated when i picked it up. Even with some screwing around, I'm used to getting 11 grand from a 402 on an Electra Glide. How anyone gets 20 grand out of ANY motorcycle tire is beyond me.

On my '06 road Glide,I could get about 12,0000-14,000 on the rear if nails were avoided.Almost 30,000 0n the front

08 Road King, 15,000 each out of 2 402 rears, easy 30,000 out of the front. On an E3 rear, had 18,000 when a nail got it, had 1/2 tread depth left. I am at the age of wanting maximum miles out of tires, gas and brakes, leaves money left over for other things, such as motel rooms on trips. Personally, I wouldn't like installing 2 tires per season, too much work and expense. You asked, the answer appears to be "yes".

Just put new tire on front, because it was cupped! New wheel bearings installed too, inside the hub was all kinds of garbage from the factory!! 10000 miles, the parts that were good had lots of tread but the cupped low spots were bad!

Talked to Avon rep at Sturgis the first thing he asked was what pressure was I running & when told 40 psi he said to pump them up which I did & got better mileage. HD recommended pressures are to low & I have learned to go to the makers website & use the pressure they recommend. Now running Dunlop Elite 3's with 11k on them. Should get a few more thousand out of rear & the front looks new. 40 psi front & 46 psi rear & I check them at least once a month.

I'm sure many of us look to get decent mileage out of our tyres, but they are not the greatest cost of running our bikes, as gas beats them hands down.

on my old bike... 07 Street GLide with 103/255s . No burn outs, just riding.... I got 5000 out of the 1st one 6000 out of the second... swapped to E3 and got around 9000ish out of it.

On my new bike 12 RGC.. with the fatter dual composition tire.. I have about 7000 and will get maybe 2-3000 more.... of course that one good smokey burn out I did just might have knocked a few miles off of it LOL

That being said... I like the twisty thing on the right handlebar... so I expect to get those kind of miles.... hard take offs and going through the gears chew tires up..... but it's fun... and that's one of the reasons I bought the thing is to have fun.

You Sir are correct. However if I buy three less tires a year,(at 5,000 mi.per tire) That is around 700 bucks of gas or 8,000 or so miles of riding. Not counting the hours of labor to mount 3 rears and maybe even a front. thats half my gas bill a year( 25,000 mi)I'd rather use the time and gas riding . Every dollar I save on tires will buy me 15 miles of riding
