Hayden at 3000 miles
The Hayden sucks it on the newer bikes. Running the Hayden on an 09 and up makes the chain way to tight.
My primary is as smooth as can be using only the "current" outer spring from their kit. I have 20W-60 mineral oil in there (for queuing in traffic) and don't need to worry about heat collection on the bearing race inside the clutch basket.

During that time, I read numerous threads about it being too tight on the newer bikes and there were questions about the spring compression being 3/8" or 1/2". Some measured it at 1/4".
This all made me leery of installing the Hayden and I just put it on a shelf.
I read post #177 in this thread and wrote to Hayden. I mentioned I bought one of their units (included a copy of my receipt), read it was too tight for newer bikes, didn't install it because of tightness concerns, heard they changed the springs, and asked if there were new springs, could I get some.
They said they would send me the new springs.
I got the springs today and they are definitely different from the ones that came with the Hayden in 12/2012.
Here are the springs, separated, side-by-side. The original Hayden springs are on your left and the newer springs on your right.

Here is a pic of the springs stacked as they would be in the shoe. The original on your left and the new on your right.

With my scientific finger test...
I took these measurements;
Original outer spring - 1.35 inches
New outer spring- 1.12 inches
Original inner spring - 1.58 inches
New outer spring - 1.36 inches
I am in the middle of building a shop to work on my bikes, it won't be completed for about another month. I won't be able to install the Hayden, with the new springs, until then. I'll be interested to see what the spring compression will be...
I thought I would post this info for those who believe their Hayden is too tight, or those who gave up on the Hayden because of the questions about the springs.
I'm pretty impressed that Hayden made a correction/update in response to feedback about their product and that they sent me the springs at no charge.
I'll post back when I finally get this thing installed and how it fits....
had the same issues and a NOISEY/WHINEY primary for some 2000 miles. Pulled the damn thing out and went back to stock and did exactly what oldhippie did based on recommendations from several reputable builders with a small tack to hold it in place at the proper adjustment.
Every 3000 miles I pull the primary just to check everything in there. All is good, no noise, no over-tightened chain, etc.
