I bought an 05 paint set to go on my 04 Ultra Classic that included the lowers. The lowers only had the painted pieces though, no mounting hardware, no vents, and no glove boxes. I went to the local dealer in Bowling Green, KY last Sat to order the missing peices for the lowers. I ordered all peices they had listed, but I was told that the glove boxes were not available for purchase. Now what? The glove boxes on the 05's are different from prior years due to the integrated vent, as least that is my understanding. The guy at the parts counter told me that Harley obsoletes parts as early as the next model year sometimes, and that must be the case for the 05 glove boxes. Anyone have a set of boxes to sell, or any advice on finding a set will be most appreciated.
Thanks, Jerry
Do yourself a favor and find another dealer that is willing to actually do some work and find you a set of glove boxes. They gave you a BS answer as that option is still out there on '05 bikes that are not even sold yet. They still have those parts at HD in the corporate sections. The dealers here in Memphis (Bumpus HD) can find any part you need. Harley has a corporate parts finder websight that breaks down all the parts of an assembly complete with part numbers and availability.
You can probably get a straight answer from Mark and www.mandmcycles.com. He has been a great source and I buy most of my parts from his store.
Thanks for the info luvmyflhtcui. I will check out the link you provided. BTW, I live in south central KY (Burkesville) just about 25 miles north of Celina TN.
mikeisglidn, I posted some pics in the newbie forum in post: https://www.hdforums.com/m_99511/mpa..._/tm.htm#99511
kinda grainy, I'm new to digital cameras. I was in such a hurry to get the bike started on rebuild, it never occured to take before pics till it was too late, but after pics are at the link above.
In regards to the lower glove boxes, I appreciate the responses. I have several parts on order from local Harley dealer, and after further research, I think the boxes may be coming in individual pieces vs. as a whole assembly. The kid in the parts department just did not understand, at least that is my hope. The boxes are listed in the lower fairing kit breakdown as not available for purchase seperately, but then it lists each part to build the boxes, and they are on order. I'll know for sure as soon as the parts arrive.
