Default Need advise.

Got back from a ride and I put the kick stand down, I started to walk away and I hear a thump, the bike fell on it's rt side, bag is scratched on the bottom and latch area. Should I put a claim for a new bag, Is there anything I need to worry about engine wise.

By "claim" I assume you mean an insurance claim.
Black is easy to repainted so you might consider getting a body shop to look at it.
Falling over in place rarely does significant damage beyond paint. Check for scratches on exhaust and other parts but you probably don't have much to worry about.
Insurance deductible will probably eat up most of the cost f a new bag and painted parts take a long time to come.

That's right...if it just fell over like that, there's probably no major damage but it won't hurt to let the guys give a one over

Bummer! Black is a cheap and easy fix. I had a buddy fix my left saddlebag on my old 09 FLHX when I laid it down. He fixed the rash and repainted for $150. Good luck!

tough lesson, learn to check the bike is stable when parked, check that it is still stable if the bars are turned and locked before leaving.

this is why motor officers mount and dismount from the right side, the bike is supported better by the jiffy stand should they loose balance

and one of the reasons I have rear saddlebags guards- that and the asshat who parks too close at the bar.

You don't have anything to worry about as far as the bike is concerned (paint scratches not withstanding). I've used my own SG to teach people how to pick up heavy baggers, and sometimes I purposely drop the bike to mimic real-world situations. (I use engine guard protectors from Pro-Guards to protect the chrome when doing the demonstration.) My bike has always run fine.

You can cover up paint scratches easily with hobby paints from companies such as Testors. The acrylic Black works fine. It's not a perfect fix, but if the scratches are not too bad, it's a cheaper way to go.

Putting your jiffy stand down and the having the bike fall on the right side...hard to blame it on a mechanical malfunction. If you are at a stop..bike falls over. No harm done, maybe a scratch on yiour bags if you have no 'crash' bars. Better to pay for any damage out of [ocket than to deal with insurance unless you have ZERO DEDUCTIBLE..then cancel that insurance after they pay.

And I thought Motor cops got off the right side so they didn't step into traffic with their back turned.
