My starter pooped out last week on 2010 Ultra Limited (103) and the dealer reported that I need a new starter, clutch assembly and compensator. The clutch ring apparently has broken teeth, cause unknown. I am real surprised by this issue and have complained about it to the dealer trying to get some of the cost recovered.
My Harleys never left me stranded before or ever needed this kind of repair, I'm not a happy camper.
This going to be real expensive (over $3000, ouch) and was just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and if so was a cause found.

2010 103" sounds like an upgrade to me, when you had the upgrade, did you put compression releases, manual, automatic?
if not, you'll be putting a new starter in about every 5K miles.
Thanks for listening...

The 2010 FLHTK is standard with 103. Known problem with the 103 FLHTK in 2010. I just replaced a comp for an SE in a bud's 2010 due to bad vibes.
The dealer will tell you that you have to replace the whole clutch basket for over $500. All you really need to do is replace the ring gear. There's a company that has them ready to go. Evolution Industries part EV:1010-1241. http://www.evolution-industries.com/ I cut my old one off with a dremel and put the new one on for about $150.
