Default Strange issue

I don't know if this is the fuel filter or not, but when I get to a little less than 1/2 a tank of fuel, my bike after start-up starts to hiccup or back fire a little bit and loses power. Strange thing is when I fill up the tank, it fires up fine and rides like new again! I get the P1353 code and clear it when I'm at the 1/2 tank point. My Indy said that the code is a nuisance code and not to worry about it, but I didn't tell him about the hiccup and loss of power. I don't think it's the fuel filter since it runs great after a full tank but I'm just not sure.

Any ideas?

Pinhole in the line inside the fuel tank?

Could have a little debris in the bottom of the tank. When you top it off it swirls around and knocks it loose. Happened to me once.

JohnSWA.. couple of things..

1.) do you have any type of piggy back tuner? If so, pull it off and see how she acts then

2.) that code means the ECM is detecting no combustion on the front cylinder so not sure why that would be classified as "nuisance" code. Check your spark plug wires and plugs. Make sure where the two connect is nice and secure including the metal tip of the plug being screwed on tight..

No tuner and checked both ends of plug wires. I'm leaning more towards a fuel issue.

Default Hiccup

I am betting the fuel filter cracked as they had a lot of them go in 2008. When it cracks under 1/2 tank it sucks air, when tank is full it sucks gas. I would bet on this as that is exactly what happened to mine.

Was that in just the 08 models, or was that the year of badly made filters? My bike's an 04 and I don't think the fuel filter has been replaced. It has 32K miles on her.

Cant really answer that, but what you described is exactly how mine ran till the dealer changed out the filter and showed me.

JohnSWA.. think about it sir.. if it was fuel such as a filter or other, you would more than likely be having other issues or codes thrown like 1356 for the rear cyclinder as well.

1.) are they stock plug wires? aftermarket can cause issues because of the resistance within the wire being out of tolerance.
2.) i think if it's not spark then its fuel delivery, meaning injectors. Check your wiring closely at the injectors for loose or corroded connections and put dielectric grease in the connectors.
3.) check the connector at the ECM for any loose or corroded pins especially pin # 28 (white/yellow wire) then put dielectric grease in the connector.
