Why do some riders have to feel the need to blip the throttle with loud exhaust to get people's attention? He'd pull back and then gun it, then blipping between downshifts etc.
Well there is a biker pub coming up and also a woman walking her Rotty along the side of the road. He wasn't 8' away from her and sent the dog jumping a foot in the air with yet another blip, just about pulling over the woman. So the point is folks, think of your loud exhaust and consider others please.

I really don't understand the need to come on here and voice an opinion about something that's totally normal. If your not "Blipping your throttle" when your downshifting then your hammering your transmission.

Some people have nothing better to do than bitch about someone elses pipes or riding behavior.. Buy a Honda, you will fit in great with guys.

But, there is downshifting blipping, and there is DOWNSHIFTING BLIPPING. If you know what I mean.

I enjoy hearing my pipes and agree that "blipping" the throttle helps with shifting. But, I also take into consideration my surroundings when doing so. I ease through my neighborhood without the sterio blasting and never blip the throttle. I have no problem cruising down the road listening to my tunes but when I come into a small town or stop at a red light with others around, I turn down my tunes. I think its just being considerate of others. Something our society has lost a long time ago.

I don't think I've ever "blipped", "blapped" or "racked my pipes" as we used to say. It just reminds me of crotch rocket riders and how they constantly do that at stops.

I "blip" mine at a light all the time.. mainly cuz I've got a carb and it's been more than once I've twisted the throttle from a stop and killed the bike..lol but I don't crank it.. just enough to put the idle speed up a bit before the light changes..

That's a first for me...I really don't understand how if you're not blipping your throttle you're hammering your transmission. I never do that and have had zero problems in 60k miles. Not sure where your heard that one from.

And just to add. Would it not be in the manual if it was the thing to do.
"Not blipping when downshifting could damage the transmission and any damage caused by this omission will void the warranty"?

I think we all have atleast one friend who just makes noise just to make noise and be a dick. That's how you **** people off and why they want to change laws reguarding pipes. I have no problem with loud pipes but there is a time and place for everything. People hear my tunes way before they hear my pipes..
