I really don't understand the need to come on here and voice an opinion about something that's totally normal. If your not "Blipping your throttle" when your downshifting then your hammering your transmission.
Some people have nothing better to do than bitch about someone elses pipes or riding behavior.. Buy a Honda, you will fit in great with guys.
So people around here are not aloud to voice their opinions? I believe the OP is referring to the riders that are overly obnoxious with getting attention and how they operate their bikes, not actually matching RPMs for shifting.

Get real skewl, you then have something wrong with you tranny if you find the need to get people to recognize you when you go by. I just pointed out the obvious what I saw the other day, that's all. That's not a "totally normal" way to drive. Jeeesh. By the way, I do have a Honda also and shift it the same as my HD.

Mike
Sure, voice an opinion but why the need to get so butt hurt over the situation that you need to make a thread "Don't paint us all with the same brush"?
There are tons of douche bags in this world, some with loud pipes some with quite bikes and most don't ride. My point is; the OP is suggesting that people with loud pipes are "Obnoxious" because the blip their throttle when shifting and it's totally normal.
I see guys with fast cars throw it in neutral and hit the throttle to get attention and guess what, sometimes they get laid doing it.
Can't blame a guy for trying.
You ride a f*** Harley, get off your high horse and live a little.

When downshifting, it's common practice to momentarily increase RPM's just before letting out the clutch in order to get the engine speed close to the RPM needed in the new gear.
If you've ever downshifted and felt the bike lurch as the engine speeds up to compensate for the new gear -- "blipping" the throttle before letting out the clutch alleviates/lessens the lurching as the clutch pack/transmission and engine get back in sync.
If you've ever done this regularly and become good at it, the bike will hardly lurch at all when downshifting.
Doing this is not required, but it's understood to cause less wear and tear on the expensive metal stuff between your legs.

The OP never mentioned anything about having loud pipes, just the way that particular person was operating their bike. People are reading way to into these posts around here.
I have loud pipes myself, D&D. I could give a sh*t if it bothers anyone.
