I have a 2012 Ultra Limited with a breather kit, Thunderheader slip-on mufflers and it's been dyno-tuned with a SE Pro-Tuner. I'm just not happy with the sound - too quiet for my liking. I have had the same Thunderheader slip-ons on my last two bikes (00 RKC and 05 RKC) and they seemed to be much louder than my Ultra. I am wondering if the cat has a lot to do with the quieter sound on these newer models. I was hoping for even more noise out of the 103.
My question: Have any of you with cat bikes and slip-ons gone to a true dual setup and used your old slip-ons ?? I would like to know what you thought of the sound difference just by going true dual and getting rid of the cat.
You will definitely notice a difference by getting rid of the cat. If you want to go true duals, give MGS a call. Get the loud baffle option. You won't be disappointed.
No cat stock mufflers with the center baffle drilled out makes a noticeable difference in the sound as well. That is what I did until I decide and can afford something else. Might just keep it this way as well. I am getting to like it more and more. Thinking of doing intake and some type of tuner to see if that makes any more difference.

Thanks in advance,

Makes a huge difference whether you go to true duals or power duals (2-1-2)
I had the V&H Twin Slash cut round slip ons with the stock pipes & cat, sounded nice.
Went with the V&H Dresser Duals and the same slip ons, sounds AWESOME.
Everybody I ride with says they love the sound of my Limited, and most importantly, so do I. The reduction in heat from getting rid of the cat is a nice bonus too.
The cat has a lot to do with the sound. Did Stage 1 upgrade (full flow intake/slip-ons) keeping stock headers. Had a tune done with SEPT. Then dumped stock headers due to heat issues and replaced with V & H True Duals. The sound change very noticeably. Deeper throatier sound. Like night and day.
