2 questions, 1st I have a 2000 ultra with cassette deck. Can I plug in a usb thumbdrive with music on it if I can get a cable to connect the plug on front of radio to usb connection. 2nd question, I want to replace my rear speakers as they seem to have crapped out after 13 years, other than needing 2 ohm speakers, any suggestion on a reasonably priced set of speakers, I do not need it to blow away the competition just hear it a little louder at speed without the distortion
1. No. The radio will have no way to process the music on the thumb drive.
2. You need to use 8 ohm speaker, not 2 ohm. Harley didn't start using 2-ohm speakers until Harmon Kardon took over as the supplier of the radios around '06. Your best be might be Hogtunes. Not a lot of 8 ohm speakers out there.
You guys that just HAVE to have the latest and greatest. You can get 90 minutes of listening pleasure from ONE cassette. What's the problem? It even flips the tape over for you!
Funny thing happened at the Goodwill the other day I found an old Ipod to Cassette adapter and for a laugh I bought it and plugged it into my old work truck cassette deck that we stopped using years ago because it ate tapes and lo and behold it worked great. If you have some kind of thumb drive player you could either use an adapter or plug it into an AUX jack if you have one.The adapter is made by a company called Griffin. It looks like a cassete with a 3.5mm cable coming out of it.

That was my question regarding the thumb drive. That would make it pretty easy if it worked.
I do not think I need a new system, yet... I do feel I could fix it with 2 new speakers in rear and an mp3 player plugged into the jack. Any particular music player better than any other. I do not think I would go apple. Anybody with experience in that particular mod? I can get a cheap mp3 player and just upload my music on it, with the plug needed, for less than $30.00 and higher depending on my budget at the time. Speakers can probably be had for maybe another 30 if I just go with poly cone and the right ohm set up. I just cant stand commercials. The more I save on this kinda stuff the quicker I can do more to the bike. I can hear the music now at speed, not great, considering what I am sitting on, but I can hear music enough to enjoy. I do not need thumping loud. I hear some breaking up in the rear speakers. The po told me just had the front done at the dealership a month before I purchased. Is it 2 ohm speakers or 8 ohms, I have been given advice both ways now. I know get a service manual. I will but the dealer I want to give my business to is located about 35 miles away. I have not gone that far with it yet, we are still getting to know each other, but soon.
