Yeah it's like riding in a blast furnace, July is worse. That's when we hit 112-115 fairly often. I live at the base of the Sierras though so it don't take long to climb a few thousand feet and cool off.

I wouldn't worry about engine head temps at 300* but would sure be checking oil temps. Say what you want but I would not be happy with anything over 250* and if that high or higher, I would be changing oil every 2500 miles. JMHO

I live/ride in south Texas where summer ambients exceed 100* from July thru August. Oil temps generated by my modified 107" '02 FLHT with an oil cooler run 235*. Of course, if stuck in traffic, they will go higher. My 95" '05 FXSTD with an oil cooler generates oil temps about 210*-220* in the same ambient temps and is much slower heating up in traffic.

Doing 'tuning' runs has no difference in temps. 300* is NOT the norm at all. You can adjust the timing, to what the bike likes, and the temps will drop appreciably. Post in the AFR section and surely someone will help you with adjusting timing and the PV.

My oil Temps run normally 260-270 in the summer WITH an Ultra cool oil cooler.
Just pulled my plugs to read and change them the other day. They looked textbook.

Where does this PV read it's temps from exactly?

Rear of the front jug. Look behind the horn and you'll see the sending unit.

Went for a very short ride yesterday with the following numbers: Outside temps were around 95* give or take a couple degrees. Ride was about 10 miles long on surface streets with 4 or 5 red lights along the way and speeds around 45mph. Power Vision was reading engine temp as high as 305* at about 7 or 8 miles into the trip. Bike runs good but these temps continue to concern me. I guess I expected after tuning the bike with the PV, the bike would run cooler than it does. More in the 275* range. Any cause for concern here or is this the norm?
try this one and let me know how it works for you. It definitely doesn't run hot in my FLHTK and gets good mileage. Good timing and slightly rich at idle area help. The closed loop is disabled in idle area also helps.
