I have a 2010 FLHTC, thinking of removing the Pak, changing to a single seat. Is this a big p.i.a. to do? where would the antenna attach-to? no other electronics or lights in mine.
you can buy the H-D detachable kit...but it reality it only takes about 40 minutes the first time to take it off with nuts and bolts ( and 20 minutes each time after that.
unbolt the tourpak from the mount- set it aside.
unbolt the mount from the bike.
done.
this makes sense if your tourpak only goes on/off the bike a few times a year- I have the detachable kit on this one.
easiest if you have help to support the tourpak and lid while you unbolt.
the lighting if any, rolls up and tucks under seat.
you will need a plate mount- many of us use the road king signal bar/plate mount w/ led which needs to be spliced in under the taillight to a "run" circuit
I use the acc antenna mount and a $8 pepbys stubby- and as above there are other methods- I do not think the amplified in-fairing antenna kits are worth the expense

Here is my 2010 Ultra done a little different. No quick detach and instead of the Road King license plate bar I used a Custom Dynamic license plate frame with LED tag lights.
No tour pack kit here, I removed the trunk and store the wires under the seat neatly tied, and relocated antennas with antenna relocation kits one for radio and one for the CB. Trunk Install and removal is easy but it does take at or about 45 mins. Day trips the trunk stays off, trips any longer then that I reinstall the trunk..
I bought the Harley quick detach kit. The license plate mount sucked. It only takes a little while to switch over but to be honest I don't do it very often as mostly the tour pac stays on. I have a different seat for each configuration. So I thought it would be a really nice option but in reality, NAA....
Detatch kit here, and I use it all the time. One up, no pak and solo seat but in 5 minutes it's ready for two up. I prefer the solo look, but the storage space in the pak is too useful to leave it off. Ride safe.
