Trouble with the new FLHXS
Came home Friday and my new decatted header was sitting on the front porch. Saturday morning was rainy so I decided to go out to the garage and swap the headers out. Had to run to town for new gaskets, but the swap went pretty smooth. REALLY woke up the stock pipes. Was raining so no test ride. Sunday was a beautiful day, but had to go watch my Panthers whoop up on some NY football Giants. Got home late so no ride.
Went out this morning and first thing I notice is the sound. Love it so far and the new slipons can wait a while. Next thing is a rattle in the right side of the fairing, which I can stop by gripping the fairing at the vent.
The next thing was a misfire by the motor, like it lost power for a second. Then it backfired and kinda spit back through the intake. Only did that once. All of this at either cruising part throttle or transition rolling off throttle. When I'm cruising I notice that I sometimes seem to be slowing down. When I apply throttle it seems to take a bit of travel to get any response and then I get a handful. And every once in a while it misfires and snatches the compensator.
No problem with on throttle acceleration. Only at throttle transition roll off and cruise, or part throttle. It idles fine, and that cam sounds real good.
I figure it's probably the TPS. I checked for exhaust leaks and didn't see anything. I'll take it in tomorrow to see what the dealer says.
Same thing with my 2013...... No different, put on cobra speedsters..... Then it ran like doo doo until I put on a fuel pak and a stage 1 air kit, runs like a scalded dog!
the tune is off now that the pipes are changed. Nothing wrong with the bike just the tune,,,,,,, Dealer can dyno tune or you can purchase a simple tuner to get rid of that easy.. good luck with it.
