My 2013 FLHTK had to get new cams etc under warranty. They suggested I get a stage 2 at the same time. The price was to be $500.00 but now that it is ready they want $750.00 stating they forgot the adjustable pushrods. Doe's this sound reasonable or am I getting hosed. Appreciate any input. Thanks
I think you should be able to haggle A LOT. don't think they are going to tear into it and pull em out.... Hope they are wanting a life time customer and hook you up. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with most HD dealerships. When do you think they will get the hint. Customer service is key and it seems that more and more HD dealers are going away from it! just my two cents, for what is worth.
Something doesn't sound right. All the labor should be covered by warranty correct?
You're paying $700 for just the cams and pushrods, what am I missing here???
I would not pay the extra money. The bulk of that money is going to parts, the labor to replace the push rods should not be that much, and depending on which cams you use you MIGHT be able to re-use the stock push rods. I think they are trying to put the screws to you, be prepared to haggle with them on this.
I obviously don't know the background behind this whole situation, but last I checked a set of adjustable pushrods was about $139 and require a lot less labor than going in through the top. That does not justify a $250 difference.
Do you have the original 500 estimate in writing? If that's the case then I'd take that to the owner of the shop and have a chat. The dealer I go to always gives an estimate in writing before they do the work.
I had a lifter leaking down and noisy since new. They of course said it was normal. I now have 12 thousand miles and it was loud enough they admitted something was wrong. After tearing it down they said the cams lifter's and cam plate were all worn out and suggested I upgrade the cams and pushrods. Picked it up yesterday and lo and behold I now have the same original noise. Still sound's like a noisy lifter.
