Anyone change their True Duals over to 2-1. Thinking about the D&D 2-1 and want to know if it will perform better? How much torque will I gain? I currently have V&H true dual headers with Khrome Werks HP slip-ons. Getting 95 ft lbs to the wheel. 88" with Zippers 557 cam and head work done.
I do not have a direct answer, but I am doing about the same on my new 14. Going 2:1 Bassani Road Rage 2. I think it is fairly accepted by most they offer a little better performance. I just need to get used to the look without duals. I admit not easy! But doing it anyway. Never had a 2:1 now is the time to try it out.
Not sure how much horsepower, but they will definitely add to the low end and midrange. I doubt it will have to be re tuned as the True duals and 2 in 1 tune about the same.
I run a D&D Boss Fatcat 2-1 on my 2010 Street Glide, stage II 103 with SE 255 cams. My bike makes 92 hp and 106 tq at the tire which seems very good compared to dyno sheets that have seen where duals have been used.
I just got my first 2:1 and went with the fatcat. It is awesome. I would get it again. Great sound, a little different at first but once I got use to it I love it. Id recommend the d&d or the thunder header.
This spring I changed from Dragos true duals to a Dragos 2:1. Picked up 4hp and 6tq. Same tuner, dyno, before and after runs were within 60 days of each other (Put on duals, changed my mind and went to 2:1 60 days later)

Opinions vary on this. I happen to like 2/1's on a bagger. I've had V&H hi output. V&H Pro Pipe and currently Jackpot 2/1 stainless on my Street Glide. Great sound and great potential power depending on your build of course. It's hard to beat a pro pipe. If I may opine.
I had TDs on my S&S 107 when I first installed it, but changed to a 2-into-1 after a couple of years. I had the bike tuned on the same dyno for both systems. With the 2-into-1 I picked up 15% increased low/mid range torque, which is a lot more than expected. In addition the engine is much smoother running and a darned sight nicer to ride with. The TDs had a shallow dip in torque which the 2-into-1 filled right out, in the rev range I most often used.
While I loved my TDs in many ways, I will never use them again!

Thanks, that's the kind of answer I was looking for.
I also went from true duals to the Pro Pipe 2 into 1. No dyno, but it definitely ran far better, especially low end. Did not realize how much I had lost with the true duals. Acceleration is much better all across the rpm range. No engine work on the bike either.
