Daymaker
never seen the mounting ring for the TL product so I can't honestly answer that.
based on the pics in this thread, I would say the mounting ring has something to do with the depth of it but the light itself looks to be made a little different as well.
Good way to tell if you live in proximity to a dealer is take your TL ring and light with you and go down there. ask them to allow you to see the ring and light of the DM.

There is no mounting bracket for the TL. People are simply putting it in with the mounting bracket that comes stock on the bike...that is why the light sticks out so far. The OE headlight is very shallow, as you can see from the pictures in the post you referenced.
If you had not changed out the mounting bracket when you put the HD light on would it have stuck out? I can't see any other reason why HD would include the mounting bracket other than to bring the body of the light in some.
the DM will not fit in the housing/bracket that comes stock. The light has a different/tad larger shape to it on the back side than the stock headlamp does.
I can only assume with the TL, that the depth of it keeps it from sitting flush like the DM does.

First of all, don't pay list. Go to one of the on-line stores that give 20% off.

You can also buy the Speaker Evolution 8700 headlight from other sources. That's the manufacturer that makes the Daymaker. About $390.00 on some of the truck parts and jeep parts houses.

Installation is simple plug and play.

I put the Daymaker headlight and auxiliary lights on my 2010 Road King, night and day (pun intended) difference with the stock headlights, even with the high-output bulbs I put in.
First thing I did was put the Daymaker headlight on my 2014 SGS when I bought it. I'm having the Aux lights installed when I do the 1,000 mile service.
Personally, I can't put a price tag on safety and visibility.

Another thing, especially with the Aux lights, but even with just the headlight, the swath of light is much wider than stock, so your headlight hits cars' side view mirrors, making you much more visible.
