I do not claim to be an electronics expert or know everything that apple will or will not allow. BUT,.... I do know that the HD engineer stated that the infotainment was tested and evaluated using a iphone 5. Basically, according to my dealer, there is just a slight difference in the infotainment production software, and that al phones listed on the HD site s being compatible should be compatible when the new software upgrade is released.

My family all used iPhones and I am typing this on an iPad. However last January I switched to a Samsung Note 5 and never looked back. Dump the iPhone you will be glad you did.
The one thing I wish the HD system would do is read your text message to you out loud like my car does.
Dock Holiday? That's funny. I had a roommate with the same name in college, 40 years ago!
I'm sticking with the iPhone. But my 6.5 boombox will read the text message to me - even while I'm riding! I see a message that says it's not supported but it does, in fact, work.
I couldn't get anything related to texts to work on my 2014 SGS and can't get it to work with my 2016 RGS. Then again, I've never given it much thought either.
