I believe if we could go back to the day where it was legal to shoot the lowdown thieving varmint there'd be a lot less of crap being stolen. Jus Sayin!!
I usually lock ignition only if I'm at like lunch or something. But if the bike is out of sight I lock everything.
Most ppl don't mess with bikes around northern Virginia.
Friend of mine had his bike parked in southern Maryland (Charles county) and went to lunch. Came back out and someone took his damn true duals off the bike. He's sure it was one of the 1% clubs down there because he saw a few hanging out in the parking lot.
I've been touring for over 25 years the only time I have had anything stole off the bike was about 20 years ago , I had a Yamaha Venture at the time, we were in Vegas stayed 2 the last night I parked by 2 other Ventures the next morning got on the bike and seen the spedo wasn't working looked down and SOMEONE had stole my spedo cable all the way back to Chicago with no cruse control.
I usually lock mine down when it's out of sight. I also leave an empty leather gun holster laying on the seat and I've never had anyone mess around with my bike.
It depends where i am. but i lock my bike a lot....specially the tour pack...I keep my saddle bags locked most of the time cuz it's the smart thing to do. You never know when a lid can come open hitting a bump and you stuff can come out of it...If i go to the grocery store or somewhere like that...
