I have a HD Road Zeppelin seat that I bought in 2010. The compressor in the seat cycles frequently due to a leak from the control switch/valves. The Seat is Manufactured by Milsco in Milwaukee for Harley-Davidson and they will not sell repair parts to me. The only way to repair the seat is to take it to your dealer and pay them $60 to ship it out to the manufacturer and then you pay a flat rate for the repairs. Why should I have to go through that process when I could replace the defective part on the seat myself in less that 15 minutes, it ain't Rocket Science. If anybody knows where I might be able to purchase the repair part (Control Valves) for this seat, I would Greatly Appreciate the feedback. I really do not want to spend $200 to $250 to send it back to Milsco for a repair that I can do if I can find a parts supplier for the control valves. I doubt that Milsco actually makes the control valves, I'm sure they buy them from somebody else.
I have a zep seat that was leaking air as well. If you are handy just remove the seat cover by removing all the staples with a small needle nose pliers. And take a look at what is actually leaking. I had a hose that was cracked and needed to be replaced. I am betting that is all that is wrong as those little plastic hoses crack over time. To reinstall use a hand stapler and the right sized staples and you are all set.
+1 on taking it apart. Might be an even more simple repair than you thought. Need to know what type of parts in there to see if you can find local stuff to fix it
Thanks but I have had it apart already. Hoses are fine but I can put the valve block in a bowl of water and it leaks a pretty fair amount. I wish it was only a hose problem though.
harleydude....PM me your phone # I may be able to help you out. Do you think its the 3 button switch....the O rings can dry....its a pretty simple set up.
Yep, it is the 3 button switch. I took them out and tried to take them apart but wasn't successful at all. It is the newer seat that came out for 2009 models and later. Where we're you able to purchase the replacement switches from? $50 plus shipping sounds great, a lot better than $200 - $250 that it will cost to send it back to Milsco.
