Default which brand and why??

Iwould like to know why some people swear by V/H tru duals and others prefer the reinhart...
is one better than the other or is it personal preference??

as of right now i'm running stock header pipes with V/H slip on big shots,stage1 air filterand the race tuner..
the bike runs great and sounds awsome..but i hate the look of the slip on's...they are 4" slash cuts which look fine it's just the megaphone style of the muffler itself i dont like..

Iwould like to switch to tru duals soon , just not sure which ones...

thanks..

ps it's a 06 rkc..

On a near stock bike you should not even consider true dual. There is a ton of information on true duals and torque loss; most of it on the low end at take off. If you’re staying stock and don't want to lose power than stay with factoryheaders. Many will disagree that they don't THINK, it makes a difference. Go talk to a dyno tuner who does it all day long in every combination you can think of.

Don't get sucked in with what all of the websites say about duals adding 7hp and some torque. On astock Harleythey simply don't. But they do sound good .

True duals will help get rid of some heat you feel at your right leg, but on a stock bike IMHO it's not worth giving up the torque loss where you need it the most. If you can live without it and never have a passenger then it's a personal thing/choice.

Now if your building a bike like BraynTTM and some others here that have some serious torque...and horsepower...those babies need to breath.

I repeat, you’re going to get a lot of different opinions here that disagree. Go talk to a dyno tuner, they won't charge you to justtalk to them. Let them help you make up your mind.

I founda guy that sells them for $460, but that's just for the slip on's not head pipes.
www.pipecity.com

With that said get which ever one appeals to you most. I like the sound of the Rineharts myself but very much would like to try Vance & Hines, I'm not sure this is a bad choice.

I put the Rineharts on my bike and the reason was strictly looks and sound, period......now that being said when I put them on (mines a carbed bike) I didn't notice any dip in power. Now I'm not saying there isn't one because I've seen the dyno charts, what I'm saying is I didn't feel it on the seat of the pants dyno. For what its worth

p.s.....I ran them on a stock motor for awhile before I did all the motor work.

Like a lot of parts its what you like best, since you say you have a good sounding, good running, setup and just want to change because of the looks. Its obvious you are motivated by looks over function, so just pick the one that meets your "look" needs best.

Ditto on Gunrunners advice. People get wrapped around the axle about low end torque and peformance. If that is your thing, you'll have to spend more to enhance other components of the engine. If your just out for looks and sound, who gives a rat's a$$. Me personally, I'm a materialistic chrome ***** who likes to rumble and let the crotch rockets go fast.

I doubt if you would notice the loss in torque or hp by feel of the bike. For real tq and hp gains the 2-1 pipe yeilds the best dyno results.
True duals mainly for looks and sound and mild builds.
V&H,bubs, and bassani duals sound good, i havent rode behind any other td's on the highway.

Don't have them on yet, but I opted for the Rineharts. I asked the guys @ http://www.cyborgcycles.com/about the V&H TD's and Rineharts(@ the time I was leaning towards the V&H) and was told the Rineharts are gonna givebetter performancethan the V&H. Theysell the Rineharts system for $675. Man this site is costing me money...lol. Good luck in whatever route you go.

Default RE: which brand and why??

Thanks for all the info, after reading this forum and talking to the local tuner at the harley shop wherei bought the bike, i 'm going to stay with the stock header pipes and add the rienhart slipon's..

He suggest if the engine is (stock/near stock) leave the cross over pipe and just add the slipon's.. since they did the race tuner in the first place the will re-tune for free...

will keep you posted on the outcome..

thx, paul
