Default not happy with screamin eagle pipes

So I guess this more venting for me. I boight my first Harley a month ago. 2010 RKC. And I must say I LOVE everything about it...except for the stock sound. I found some screaming eagle pipes on craigslist for $100 put them on this morning and I'm almost positive they sound exactly the same as stock if not a little quieter. I guess I'm just mad at myself for not properly doing my research and being so impatient. I know you get what yoy pay for but what do you guys recommend? I'm looking for slip ons that aren't outrageously priced.

Just checked them out. Listened to the sound clips they have online. Not bad at all and the on special ones for only $299 caught my attention. How do you like the sound of yours?

One thing to remember about SE slipons and Stage 1 downloads from the dealer... They will always be EPA compliant, so their slipons won't be loud and their downloads will still make the bike run lean and hot.

I had SE's back in '07.

Took them off, pulled the baffles out, took a chisel and punched through it.

GREATLY improved the sound.... I was broke back then.

The baffles look welded in..if I cut them out what am I looking at sacrificing? I think I read some where on here that a guy did it on his sg and the bike never ran right again...

I like the sound. Had the Jackpots on my 2010 Ultra and when I got the Tri Glide I had to have a set for it.

I had a tune on mine.

And mine had a set screw holding them in.

Best thing to do is go purchase some quality slip ons and get a tune on it.

wait.

some of the guys here are on their 3rd or even 4th set...that gets spendy quick.

don't attack your mufflers with a drill or chisel- many try that but random muffler tuning gives random performance results...and some of those who hammer away with the pipes on the bike then wonder why something else broke...

go to a bike event and see what other guys are running...ASK what they have, ask what other mods have been done.

do not judge sound by some internet clip...how accurate would your computer be playing The Who recorded by some guy on a cell phone and posted to the net ?

the cat in your header GREATLY affects the sound.

there are about 90 versions of mufflers from screaming eagle over the years, they are made by many vendors.

some are noise reg compliant, some are off road only...and they will be marked, most of us want the off road type

many of us use supertrapp tunable pipes- about as loud or quiet as the rider wants- in minutes. and 2 versions of these are available from screamin' eagle as nightstick and fatshots
