Default Fan kit for touring models

I was wondering if anyone has used these or if someone makes a cheaper model. Kinda seems that it will shoot the heat out on your right leg. I got stuck in traffic in Bullhead city the other day. Even with killing the engine I was hot. I am going to order the saddle shields also. But it can't be good if I get that hot the oils gotta be really hot right?

oil of course will get plenty warm... good synthetic though won't break down like regular oil. I think amsoil isn't supposed to start breaking down till it reaches like 800 degrees or something... long after your engine would melt into a puddle there on the road. Having said that overheating is still not that great for your engine. I've heard it said that if the cylinoid were to shut the bike down your probably doing some damage somewhere... but its still better than melting all your seals and such.

In reference to the fan that Harley sells to help keep those big twins cool, when I lived down in Florida it seemed like most of the guys who had 'geezer glides' I rode with had installed one. According to them it did the trick in keeping the jugs cooler when in the hot, humid weather we got down there...I really never heard any negative from anyone who had installed the fan...

The negative of the fan is that they frequently have a short life. The vibes of the motor seem to kill them.

Use mine all the time in Tx sitting in traffic. I also remove my lowers during the summer to help keep the engine cool.

I have one just recently installed. Seems to be well-made, but I have heard of folks having a problem with them burning up due to vibes... If you do not want to go the HD route, Lenale makes a nice one, I have been quoted under $250 for one.. . I have mine wired to ACC switch, and it is good for traffic. Keeps me and the bike cool. Jury is still out on the durability, but time will tell. The other thing that helps is a good dyno tune if you are running any mods.

I would have to say that between the fan, and the Dyno Tune, I spent a good chunk of change, but I am happy with the results, and enjoying my bike more.

I still have not done any mods I am trying to save up for a PCIII, K&N air breather and rush slip ons. I changed to synthetic last oil change. I live in Las Vegas it gets hot here and I ride any chance I get. I will try the fan on a switch if it does'nt run all the time maybe it will last longer.
