Just like what 05train said, lose the true duals for the first step, you'll pick up performance and your ears will like a good flowing stock headpipe or an aftermarket 2-1-2 like my Fullsac. A set of Fatshotz with a closed cap will be quiet but you'll definitely need a tune because performance fell off the face of the earth when I went that route, quiet though (I say with a big smile). Monsters on it now, still loud at freeway speeds.
I've been thinking about changing my exhaust since I got the bike. I have cams and the Rinehart true duals 4" on my 06 EG. For me it's too loud. What pipes will give me some more low end, less noise, and not cost a fortune?
I am going with S&S power tune duals and S&S Quiet Tour Tapered Mufflers in hopes to improve performance, keep a some what stock look and improve performance.
I do have to loose the true duals to get any of the slip on mufflers. Rinehart uses an off size for their full system mufflers. I really wish I could get some Fatshots, ie SuperTrapp mufflers that would fit my true duals. I do really like the look of the true duals. Just to clarify I'm not talking stock quiet. Just not so obnoxious loud. I'm leaning towards de-catted head pipes and the disk type mufflers. I guess with that setup I'll at least be able to taylor the sound to my liking.
I use supertrapp supermegs, screaming eagle fatshots and screaming eagle nightsticks on various bikes
these are all disk system mufflers which allow the owner to set the noise level and tune the muffler to enhance torque or horsepower to complement the intake, motor and exhaust system

Well if ya need to change headpipes anyway the Supertrapp supermeg is your best choice. Just not cheap but ya should be able to make some bucks selling your current setup. The cheap way would be stock takeoff headpipes and 2010 up take off mufflers. Have heard good things about Fullsack headpipes for earlier bikes (like the one on my '09) add some supertrapp/SE Fatsots/nightsticks for less noise or '10 up takeoffs.
I came across this guy on ebay a little while back. Definitely fits the affordable part and doesn't seem too loud from the videos on the site. Not sure about reputation or quality though.
