Default Road glide beach bars vs apes

Ok so I got my 2 into 1 exhaust bought so now it's time to check off another winter mod, for those of my fellow road glide owners who have experimented with handlebar options what's more comfortable beach bars or apes ? I'm 5'9" 30" inseam and average length arms I guess. Stock bars kill my shoulders after about 4 hours but i also blame that on the lack of a backrest which I'm taking care of at the same time which is another question ( C&C vs Corbin solo with back rest ) I would love to try different options but I'm the lone road glide rider out of my group, and as far as I know my local dealership ( Biker Bobs in Taylor Michigan ) doesn't offer to many bars for my bike.

Also forgot to mention my style of riding is more of a laid back cruising position with my feet on the highway pegs, if that helps.

I dont have any experience with beach bars, but I've always put apes on my bike. Stock bars are horrible, apes are the cure - for me anyway.

Be sure to head over to http://twowheelmichigan.com and join a great local riders forum. There are a few of us that have road glides with various ape sizes.

Don't know Apes Vs BeachBars....all I know is my Ultra Classic had better hand position than my Roady. Going to live with it so far.....since I haven't ridden it more than three hours at a time. I like the height, but the wrist angle drags on me.

At 5'9" what's a good height for apes ? I'm deff looking for a little more pull back than stock, thinking about the KST Customs Mayhams 12" or 14"

I'm 5-9, always had 14s until this one, decided to try 12.5's and while they're fine, I'll be switching back to 14's next year.
