You would think if the they really wanted to give out fines it would be for owners removing catalytic converters from there emissioned controlled bikes!
Race Use Only There are teams of LEO's that walk around checking if the engine number matches the frame number and if it does not they check for stolen parts. Mike
Yeah, they've been there for years, but they're just looking for stolen components - Not EPA violations. That's all that Race Use Only means ( just like the labels on some exhaust manufacturers shipping cartons have stated for years also.)
(By your standards, every Evo style S&S motor would get hauled in too !)
I would skip the 120R, because if you ride around rallies it can get your bike impounded , and you a rather large fine after court cost.
That is the new thing that cops are looking for, they have gotten a little more forgiving on the handlebars, and they look for that 120r in a bike.
Yes, what's the violation ?
I don't go to rallies, but I am a LEO and for the life of me can't even think of what the violation would be ? EPA violation because it's not EPA compliant ? Better impound every bike out there with aftermarket air cleaners, pipes, and cams. Engine VIN doesn't match the frame ? So what ? Not a requirement as long as the engine or frame is not reported and listed on NCIC as stolen.
The dresser duals were for my other build (S&S 106), that I lost the crank in. Just haven't had the money to replace with a good 2-1 yet, but it's going to happen.
Love the engine and I'm real happy that I opted to go with it, its very tame now but tour's well gets okay fuel mileage and is cooler running than when I had the stock 96" with the cat still on.
I had it installed in June I believe and have about 10'000 miles on it already, me and the wife did a three week 6800 mile road trip in July and I put about 1000 miles on every month, and its been flawless.
With the dual system and a weak Harley dyno tune I'm only putting out 115 HP and 119 TQ. After I get the 2-1 I'll decide where to get a real dyno tune and until then one of the forum members provided me with a 2-1 PV tune to run after the install.
Thanks for the information. That's what I'm looking to hear. I will probably also go with a 2-1 but have to find one that's not too loud. I had a pro pipe chrome before I went to the monster Ovals. It was a great pipe and made great power but it was just too loud for 10 to 12 hour touring days.

The consider a diffuser disc set up like on a Supertrapp, or something like what I run, a Patriot Defender with an adjustable baffle plate. ( I run mine 75% closed.)

That's the issue I'm having, I want a D&D Boarzilla but not the overly loud exhaust note. I'm still researching a couple other pipes and the different D&D baffles but I'm going on my third exhaust in two years so I want the one I'll be happy with. Right now the bike isn't to loud but other riders can tell that there is something done to the bike because of the distinct note while cruising. I have a motorhead every now and then come up and ask how I got my bike to sound like it does with the same exhaust they see on a lot of bikes, the 120R stamps on the heads are a dead give away!
The guys I saw at Biketoberfest Daytona FL. had 120r in their baggers, it was 3 guys , and their bikes were impounded, and on flat beds, one of the guys I overheard saying that "I trailered the bike here, and rode it 3 miles to here" the Officer said it isn't street legal. That is all I know for sure.

Okay, so you just happened to be standing at the spot in Daytona that had three guys with three bikes that all had 120R's and then got close enough to listen and see that they were getting towed and impounded just for the sole reason that there bikes had 120R's? Amazing, would have thought you would have started a thread on here warning all of the 120R owners about this huge arrest that took place right in front of you during Octoberfest.
At least we know now, were did it take place so I know not to park there. I normally go twice a year when I live in NC and now that I just moved back last July I plan on hitting Daytona this spring, did you also happen to hear how much the fine was?
I didn't hear what the fine was, we were walking out of Outback steak house Daytona , and saw it, I haven't said much about it, because I don't know all of the facts, I only know what I heard. It could be just a money pull, which I can believe.
The fact is if I had a 120R I would pull off all of the stuff saying it is a 120R ,which just invites an inspection.
They could have been pulled over for racing or anything , but the bikes were towed, and I did hear the exchange.
