Thanks. Yeah. They were definitely doing some fast talking. I will go there in the am and cancel the plan. They also sold me a 36 month mechanical protection plan for $1795. I must be slipping in my old age. These plans can be purchased at any time before the factory warranty expires.
You should keep the protection plan if it covers total of 7 years or more cause 5 year plan is only $ 999 at my local dealer. If not cancel both of the plans and shop around at a different dealer and don't give a nickel to damn crook selling dealer ever again.
my 'local' dealer tries to push the pre-paid maintenance plans too. they say you can save up to 63% by going with the 3 year plan. what they don't tell you is that in that calculation, they are figuring on a service every 2500 miles. sure, paying 300-400 every 2500 miles will add up quick and you could save some money.
but, if you go by hd's recommended service interval at 5000 miles, you are coming out on the very short end of the stick. and if you do your own service, even worse. i figured out that by doing 3 services per year, using the oil i want to use (redline 20-60 in the summer, 20-50 in winter, rotella t in primary, and a good gear oil in the tranny) that i would be spending about $600 in supplies over a 3 year period. vs, $3600 on pre-paid maintenance.
now you also have to look at other extras included with the pre-paid. how many tires? how many batteries? my local used to include 1 battery, 2 rear tires, and 1 front tire with that plan. now they don't include any of that, but do use synthetic oil at each change.
the only thing i would be worried about in your case is if they say, sorry, deal is done, you can go through the cancellation process and that would end up sending money to your lender to apply towards principal.
MY son and I were just talking about salesman and the whole "How much a month do you want to spend" syndrome ... The OP's posting epitomizes this. BTW, I'm not positive, but pretty that the "Priority" refers to what they call "First in Line". While that's all well and good you have to wonder how many people buy the priority plan and how do you resolve 2 ( two ) priority customers showing up a the same time? Flip a coin? Draw a card? Duke it out in the parking lot? Maybe there's a priority plan for the priority plan ... Could be??
