Default Spark plug wires

I put a set of Sumax Thundervolt 8.2 wires on my Street Glide. I got them in blue cause I had them before on my jake & elwood blue wideglide and liked the color. My new Street Glide is Daytona blue so I bought another set. My issue is on the Street Glide they go up under the tank. I removed the tank and put them on easily. These wires touch the gas tank in several different places cause they are longer and thicker. I'm just worried about that spark touching the gas tank. I know the wires are insulated but a failure makes me nervous. Is this anything to worry about?

no, even if they shorted out to the tank, it can't light the gas, if thats what you are worried about. tank is grounded it just goes right to ground. I zip tied mine to stuff running down the backbone, (wiring harness) keeps the wire from rubbing too bad under the tank

That makes me feel a little better. Yea thats what I was worried about. Also the back one is approx. a 1/4 inch from the rear head but doesn't seem to be getting burnt yet in the 30 miles I've put on the bike since installing the wires.

if your model uses an ion sensor, other than stock plugs or wires ( performance awesome units included), the ignition system may not work well.

otherwise, if worried about chafing in areas where cant be seen, split a piece of fuel line hose and put the plug wire inside
