I've seen the bright *** tail lights and am going to purchase. The look easy to install.
I have put a higher watt bulb into my passing lamps. Really shines. I think I went from 25 w stock to 35.5 w. I heard it would not overload wiring system.
Just purchased bulbs at Autozone and installed myself.
Now this leaves my stock headlamp. It looks so dim when compAred to my passing lamps which I have on all daytime. I really can't afford the LED headlamp.
Can I get a recommendation for just a brighter bulb that I can easily install myself?
Also, I'm thinking of a modulating bulb or special wiring thing to make it modulate. Are they legal?
I installed a PIAA Powersport Bulb (anti-vibration Bulb) Extreme White Plus H4. It draws 60/55W but puts out 110/100W. PN 70456. It made a huge difference but nowhere near a LED.
I've been wanting to do this as well. I don't have the spare cash for a $300 LED headlight but could swing getting a brighter bulb. I work 3rd shift so it's dark when I go to work. Commute is all backroads so I can't give up the light a regular bulb throws sideways. I'm curious to see what kind of responses you get
You may find that your stock reflector gives a poor beam, so as well as looking for alternative bulbs, as Hausguy suggests, also consider replacing the reflector for an aftermarket one. We have discussed this subject before and brands such as Valeo and Hella have been mentioned, along with Silvania bulbs. This thread is an interesting one that may help (there are plenty of others!).
I fitted a 100w blue tinted bulb and that really shines, not up to LED standard but BIG improvement over stock, not had any probs with overheating, dont worry about not being DOT or for off road use only
I like HID's, replaced low beam on my 14 RK, got 2 sets for 30 U.S. off of ebay. Stock was not bright enough at night. Ones I bought were 6000K, prefer 5000K.
I tried the HD bulbs, Sylvania and PIAA. Those bulbs are still going to cost you +$50 and are only a small improvement. If you ride at night, you should consider saving up for a Trucklite TLP7 LED. Lights up the sides of the road nice and is night and day difference to anything halogen. Got mine at Eastern Performance for $199.00.
There was another thread that talked about this. The highest output bulb I remember seeing was a 60/55 watt that put out a 135/125 equivalent. It had a purple hue to it. I think this was the one ...
