bought new 2012 FLHX July 2011 had it back at dealer after two weeks with loud knocking in engine....apparently couldn't hear it but did note it
January 2012 they changed breather tubes cause they were collapsed (not sure how bike was parked for months-snowing) took it back with same engine knocking issue again that summer......they changed tubes again......have had at dealer several times for engine knocking........June 2013 dealer change push rods.....still knocking existed.....took bike back in October for knocking still.....they have torn engine, tranny and crank case apart........replaced cam shaft plate with screaming eagle one and heavy duty oil pump........put it all back together and guess what STILL FRICKING KNOCKING......... I bought this bike before its release and I think I got a lemon......Harley Canada not going to do anything due to everything within specs.......WTH do I do now?? Dealer giving me option of trading to 2013 but with $$ from my pocket........2013 is used btw......so my money for brand new I end up with someone elses problems or dislike..........WTH

Is it a knock or a loud tick? Cold motor? Hot? If it truly is a loud knock, they need to diagnose and fix it. If they really won't do anything and you have no legal recourse, I would get them to swap you even for a comparable scooter.
its is a loud knock. you can line up 100 bikes no matter the class and not one will sound like mine. Mine can be heard 4 bikes away in riding formation and over my stereo. Dealer is at this point out of answers.
Maybe it's time to bring in somebody from MOCO to hear this "knock". Did any body check the lifters? That hasn't been mentioned. A loose engine mount allowing the engine to bang against the frame could also be the source of the sound.
I suggest you consider visiting another dealer. It would benefit from a different set of ears listening to it, to diagnose what the problem may be. It's 30 months since you bought it, which seems to me a long time to leave it unsolved, but as you haven't got anywhere to date, change tack.
The term "knock" is usually reserved for the flywheels or connecting rods, worn bushings/bearings play out of specification.
who came up with that term? you or the dealer?
In any case the diagnosis is suspect
let me ask you this:
Does Canada ( or Ontario) have noise emissions standards which must be adhered to by the manufacturer/distributor/dealer network?
Sometimes in the US tricky mechanical problems can be put back on the manufacturer 100% if the Federal Emissions standards are violated- the emissions warranty here is 5 years.
1 check tailpipe emissions
2 see if the noise emissions exceed allowed.
Do you just have the one dealer available over by St Laurent? or is there another
there are only two dealerships near me and they are owned and operated by same people. (sigh)
mkguitar- there are no emissions for motorcycles here in Canada (yet) but we have noise bylaws - aftermarket exhaust is violation. The lifters apparently were checked when they rebuilt the engine. Does anyone know that if you request that if someone from HD comes here to listen to my bike and also hears that same request from dealership would they actually do it?
the knocking (I gave it that name) cause it sounds like something hitting a piece of wood or knocking on a door.
Im not sure what to do next other than to fight with Deely (they hold dealer license for Canada) and that could really be time consuming, stress inducing and just in general a pain in my ***
if it's under warrenty i would run the **** out of it until it blows up, then they will know what the problem is. they should have just given you a new motor to start with.

X2 Run it hard and see if she blows. This has gone on way to long
