Default Ricors v.s Ohlins

Thinking about upgrading my suspension on a 2007 Street Glide. Ricor has a sale on their Intiminators and rear shocks. Has anybody tried Ricors on their SG. Also has anybody had personal expierence comparing Ricors v.s Ohlins, or is their other options to consider.

I have Ohlins, courtesy HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal. They now sell JRI shocks which get great reviews, so I would add those to your list. JRI are born out of Penske, so have good credentials!

I ran Ricor Intiminators and Ricor rear shocks , Ohlins Shocks and Ricor Shocks , the Intiminators were an improvement , the shocks were the worse I have ever had , I sent them back several times to be re-tuned , I never could get them to work , the Ohlin #3=#3 13" and JRi B's 12" shocks I bought from Howard were amazing , I sold the Ricor shocks on here to another member and was honest with my disappointment in their ride , he never could get them to work either and sold them as well

Heh.....Holy thread duplication Batman!

As I've said elsewhere, the Ricors worked OK for me, but for the money both the Ohlins and JRIs worked much better.

What kind of budget are you looking at...??

Have you considered Progressive, or JRI?

Here's Motorcycle Metal's site so you can do some research on Ohlin & JRI...Howard's one of the recommended vendors here and...extremely knowledgeable in the shock dept.

I ditto this. Howard was great to work with. I just installed the 13 inch B JRIs on my 2009 Ultra Classic in December. Been too cold to ride very much so I do not have an honest riding review of the JRIs yet but Howard was fantastic. I would not make any decisions until you talked to him. The JRIs are high quality shocks.

Thanks, gr,tj,05,Ice,Osudvm, for the info. Since I have been considering suspension up grades for a while I have tried to research this subject on the internet and especially this forum (love the info here). I have read quite a few threads about suspension upgrades and a lot of good posts and bad about Howard I didn't know if I wanted to deal with him even though I know he is the suspension guru. Sound like most of you that replied to this thread have had good expierence 's with Howard. Looks like I would need to spend about $1000.00 or upwards to get a great upgrade over my stock suspension. I also was curious about what most of you have done to the front end (forks) if you install Ohlins or JRI's on the rear. I use to race Motocross professionally so I realize what great suspension will do on a bike. (competing against factory riders with the best equipment will show you very quickly what the best equipment that money can buy can do for you when you are racing competitively.) I just didn't know if I want to spend $1000.00 on a suspension upgrade or put that grand towards my next vacation. Limited funds ya know. Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be staying away from the Ricors for the rear! Oh yeah, been on the Motorcycle Metal website and I find it hard to download some of the PDF's and to get info from Howards site not great with computers I guess.

Talking

Mike, Howard offers discounts to HDF members, so you may make a worthwhile saving over his website prices. He is also working on a serious fork upgrade, with Ohlins fully adjustable cartridge inserts! For that little extra, he even does genuine carbon-fibre wheels........

Mike , I raced professionally for years too , so I do appreciated good suspension , like Graham said Howard gives big discounts to forum members that will help you , fyi on my front end I have my bike in Miami with Howard currently , he is fitting it with 49mm forks and 30mm fully adjustable cartridges on the inside , it's taking a little time as he has developed a 49mm triple tree for 2013 and older bike to hold the forks and he is finishing it up first

Cool

Now Ohlins #6 with those forks would be a fine match for the discerning owner........
