Seems if it came apart that easily, it just may be made to disassemble? I know the MoCo would rather you replace it with new, that's how they make their living, but many things on our bikes can be disassembled for repair even if you cannot purchase separate parts for them because only the assembly is offered. I know I'd at least take a looksee!
To me, that's part of doing our own work. One way to look at it is that you saved $600, so in theory, you could screw it up nine times and still be further ahead than having the dealer do it. That's the logic I use when doing home repairs...
I did the same thing on the volume control yea it's $60 but you will be pissed if you don't and like said above the wires are on the outside of the bars the only thing in the bars is the TBW.
You should have enuf room to cut & solder the wires without having to pull the wires thru again...I agree with the others, just fix if, if you don't feel comfy doin' it yourself, pay another ninety bux and have the dealership do it!
