Default Security system question

I have an 04 Electra Glide Classic with security. The batteries in the remote are almost dead, and my friend said I need to buy a new remote. Is this true or can I just pop it open and replace the battery?

Your friend is WRONG. Just pop it open, go to Radio Shack, and replace. First bet him a six pack that he is wrong.

yes he is right. once batteries die you have to install a start button under the seat by the back of the frame.

Get a new battery and replace it at the dealers location that way if there is a problem, you can get it rectified immediately.

Also a word of advice: Set the PIN on the security system and test it. I don't trust my remote and I'm going to bet it fails at the worst possible time. So I set my PIN in my security system and then tested it to see if it would disable the alarm and allow me to start the bike without the remote. Worked like a champ!

Yep. Just replace the batttery. I really need to do the PIN thing I have been puting that off. Never did do it on my old bike.

I've replaced a dead battery in my security remote a couple times with no problems...
