I use the SG shocks on my 09 FLHTC- the ride is somewhat compromised, and I swap back to stock shocks when touring.

but for around town the SG shocks are fine.

Mine were take offs from another rider, about $125

If you do a google there is a company that will cut down your exisisting shocks to a number of different lenghts. Seems to get good reviews and cheaper than new low profile shocks. I had a set of HD low profile shocks on last FLH and thought they road well with little or no compromise. I weighed in at about 170 pounds which could make a difference for someone at 225 #s.

While low bikes may look kool, if ya don't want to kill the ride, don't lower it. Ya can go test ride a SG and feel the difference. Losing any of the little suspension travel available will hurt the ride no matter how fancy the parts ya use to do it. That said, the stock shocks are so bad putting some shorter Ohline/JRI shocks may offer some improvement. Sorry, I might be having a bad day???

Street Glide & Road Glide Custom shocks only lower the rear 3/4 of an inch. SG & RGC
shocks require some more air pressure, and the ride is not as good as your standard
touring shocks.

Before screwing around with shocks, try sending your seat to Mean City Cycles to have it lowered and/or reshaped for the legs to not be stretched out so much. Most people, including me, are very satisfied with the results.

have an extra 3/16 sole added in your boots too. should be able to get to a one inch gain you are looking for.

Your results may vary. Past performance cannot predict future results.

Sent my shocks to bitchin baggers and had them shortened one inch. Had mean city customs lower my seat also. Bike rides decent still, I carry a shock pump in my saddle bag and put in or remove air while Im riding sometimes. It will bottom out harshly on certain square edge bumps but overall I can ride all day and not feel wore out.

I did a set of shocks from Ohlin's with Howard, lowered the bike & has a great ride, lower seat & higher boots made a difference as well.
