I have a 2009 Ultra Classic with an intermittent speed sensor. I've got the replacement sensor and factory service manual. I have the battery and all the cables to the starter disconnected and the 2 allen head bolts removed.
I'm trying the pull the starter out now and while it moves around freely, I can't seem to pull it all the way off of the primary case. Is there a trick to getting it out or is it just a brute force thing?
Don't pull! primary cover has to come off and jackshaft bolt removed. Mike
really?
my clymer manual says that for 2006 models, but not 2007-9, and my HD factory 2009 manual just says to remove the 2 allen bolts and pull it out.
