Did a stage 4 on the SG. Have Big Louies with 2 inch baffles. Runs great but now is much louder. A bit tough on my old ears. Probably cheaper to get some good ear plugs than new exhaust. Recommendations for quality ear plugs that are comfortable? Thanks.
I love these. Easy to make any size you want. I just bought a 12 pack. It comes with a little container. I bought extra containers, only 75 cents a piece.
I usually buy my earplugs here: http://www.earplugstore.com although I can sometimes find the kind I like (Moldex Pura-Fit) on Amazon for a bit cheaper. The earplugstore has good prices, quick shipping and you can buy an assortment pack to try many different brands and shapes to find the ones you like. After you find the ones you like, it is much cheaper to buy in bulk (I buy a box of 200 about once a year).
Id highly recommend a set of custom made plugs. I have moderate to severe loss in one ear and have tried an array of over the counter ones and even wasted $100 at a bike show on custom made ones. Just got a set made with built in ear buds (xmas gift) and they block out at least 30-35 db. Check out someone who makes them for shooters, or law enforcement or go ask at your local gun range.
Just do something before its too late like me.
many sources saying most damaging part of biking is wind whistle noise over 60-70mph, evrn if full or 3/4 helmet! pipes not the real demon unless jusy sick loud like 105dcbls. plus. So, if riding over 60mph... pop them plugs in!
the yellow foam ones are cheap ( Decidamps) and attenuate about 30 dB.
an easy solution for most riders, use them, toss them.
custom molds may couple/uncouple if you move your jaw, like chewing gum, talking etc.
and require good hygiene or you may easily get an ear infection.
as they block moisture, sweat builds up in the ear canal
another "generic" fit is the planet waves, I use these they offer about -19dB attenuation and pretty flat response. as they are flexible you can chew gum, they are vented so moisture doesn;t build up
