Default Kickstand loose

It's flopping around a little, and dragging even in "normal" cornering. Is this just a "change the spring" or "tighten a screw" fix? Thanks in advance.

You need a new spring most likely. Most dealers have them in stock. Take the bolt out of the top remove the stop, rotate the stand forward, remove damaged spring, install new spring re-assemble. 10 minutes tops. You will need someone to hold the bike up or have a jack available.

I'll agree with onedownand5up. It probably made contact with a speed bump or something, denting/damaging it a little. They are cheap at the dealer, like $5 or $8, so get a few of them. When apart also lube the jiffy stand's leg, where it goes into the bracket.

It's the spring. I've even seen on here people carry a spare spring on their scoot.....just in case.

Cool spring replaced..

I damaged my spring going over a curb leaving my favorite parking spot... I'll never try that again.. Crazy thing is I had just did it the day before but at a much slower speed..

I followed the steps below and it was a piece of cake. I loosend the bolt enough so that the stop plate would clear and let me rotate the jiffy stand all the way forward to connect the new spring.

I was loading my RG into a truck a few years ago when it broke down on the road. The spring snagged on the loading ramp and stretched it out to about a foot long. I replaced it with the chrome version of the H-D spring but that didn't last long at all. The spring would not recoil all the way and that left the Jiffystand swinging a bit free. Put a regular H-D spring on it and all has been good for a couple years now.

agreed, stay away from the chrome...something about the plating process (the elevated heat perhaps ?) affects the molecular structure of the metal: ultimately weakening it.

Ditto, get a new spring, most any dealer should carry one.

If you find it tough to stretch, put a coin between each coil, that will stretch it out without the jeeeezziss factor...
