I put the FL-VIED-10 last weekend. I have Rinehart 4"' DECATTED stock head pipes and stock air filter. So far so good. Can see a little lower mpg but really more responsive on the throttle and smoother running engine. I need to determine which % I should settle on. currently running them at 50%. Not sure what 75% would do or where I would tell a difference.
Per the Nightrider website you are suppose to use FL-XIED-10 if you still have the cat. Use FL-XIED-10TFF if you have removed your cat. I emailed them when I had my 12 Limited and asked why it takes a different XIED. They replied it was due to the cross talk between the O2 sensors when the cat is removed. The 10TFF compensates for the crosses talk. They said you also need the 10TFF if your mufflers have larger then a 1.75" core. They go on to say the VIED can be adjusted to compensate for bikes with or without the cat. With the Vied how do you know when you have it adjusted properly for your setup?
I had VIED's on my '12 RK and later moved them to my '13 Deluxe. They work as advertised and make your biker run a little richer and cooler. Again, they do work. I recently went to a V&H FP3 which in my opinion is a better Stage 1 option. I will sell the VIED's for $70 shipped to the lower 48. PM me if interested,
after reading a lot of post on this subject ,I finally pulled the plug and did it, installed the vieds , cobra tri ovals and se high flow ac and went for ride today. was very impressed in throttle response change, turn the throttle and its on. before very sluggish. no tune done , hope I'm not nuts for not doing the tune, very mixed reviews on this
They snap on in just a couple minutes, and are color coded (Grey and Black) so you know which one goes where.
Do not believe they are suited for a bike with cats, as the extra fuel may cause them to run even hotter, but if your bike does not have cats these will make your bike run cooler, smoother, more torque, less clutch slipping, and require less downshifting.
Bought mine from classifieds on this forum. If you go this way, you can always resell them for the same price if you end up wanting something more expensive.
That less clutch slipping thing is very interesting... I didn't realize a richer fuel mixture would fix so many things.
