2007 FLHTCU. New battery. Had new battery tested. When I try to start it the starter turns once then sounds like it is slipping then engages and starts... I know it could be a ton of things. Where to start? I check connections at starter. They are tight.

 

Starter clutch going bad? Ring gear issue? or the service bulletin on "Big Twin Starter Fasteners" plaguing 2007's mostly.

Thanks. I'll print this up tomorrow. I leave for a cruise with the better half this weekend so can fix it in a couple weeks. You always help me get straight.

 

Starter clutch. New part about $100. Install yourself.

 

make sure your cable connections are clean and tight- at both ends, that includes the ground.

any sign of corrosion inside the insulation, replace the cable- about $12 each at autozone
