Default Wiring Question

Okay, so my cigarette lighter hasn't worked in quite awhile....replaced the lighter - that was not the problem.....then I installed the auxiliary charging unit in the tour pack....(plug and play with the existing wiring)....love it - works great...then I used the wiring that came with the kit that I didn't need due to the wiring in the ultra tour pack...to check the aux plug under my seat....tried the unit with that and the aux outlet under seat doesn't work....fuses all good (yes, I pushed the dash switch 'on').....I know I will need to test the wiring....will I have to pull all this through the wiring harness to find the short/problem?

Any similar experiences?

Thanks everyone.

How did you check the plug? Was the bike running?

you kinda lost me...

the ignition switch needs to be "on" or "acc"

check your fuses

check the lighter plug with the bike on---check that the plug hasn't fallen off the backside of the lighter socket.

for the aux plug under the seat there are 4 pins;

black is ground ( pin 4)

orn/red is hot when the bike is on ( pin 1)

red/yel is hot with the brake light ( pin 2)

orn is hot with your toggle switch ( pin 3)

So does the bike need to be running for the lighter to work? or just in ignition mode or acc mode??
If it does I'm gonna laugh my butt off for being so stupid.

Ignition switch just needs to be in the "on" or "acc" mode.
Bike does not have to actually be running.

Socket is dead with ignition switch in the off position.
