When I toggle my start stop switch the 15amp fuse to fuel pump blows. Any tips as to where the problem might be? 98 RoadKing

if the fuse material is black and spattered, like burnt- that is a short circuit.

if the material has parted cleanly, just sagged and parted, then the circuit is overloaded.

i don't know what year you have.

on my 09, from the fuse, an or/grey wire carries power to the fuel pump, the power goes through connector #13A/B at pin 1, then to connector #141A/B pin 2 then to fuel pump. Nothing else is on the same fuse.

so maybe a chafed wire- which would be a short...or maybe a bad fuel pump motor.

you could try running a jumper wire bypassing the wiring harness, but risking a spark around fuel may not be so smart

for fuel pump health, fuel level should be kept high when possible- the fuel acts as a coolant for the pump motor.

Fuse is smoked. When I unplug the fuel pump the fuse did not blow. Could it be the pump itself is shorting out? It was installed last July.

yes it could be the pump...try shaking the wiring etc when you have it unplugged.

less than a year on a pump...bummer.
