I don't know why people bring parts to a shop and ask them to install - it's like bringing ground beef to mcdonalds and asking them to make you a burger. my indy gives me 10-15% off retail so it's about the same price as the internet, and he gets to make a little more profit to stay in business.

Find someone that knows what they're doing and change the oil and filter. No telling what you have in there.

you answered your own question, we don't all have your Indy. With reasonable labor that would be ideal if you have to let someone else touch it.

McDonalds doesn't have a labor rate posted for quoting frying a hamburger.

Never heard of a K&N cover, I thought your Indy said he put a new K&N filter on?

As a matter of fact I just changed your oil the right way with a new filter and oil that looks like the one that was on your bike, could you please put the $ in my paypal. I just did your buddies as well so could you you pay for that as well, and I used a new K&N cover on his!

Dude are you really this naive about Bikes?

Take the bike, the receipt (you do have one, right?), & go back & ask calmly about the "mistake". If he's honest he'll change the oil & filter right then with you there. If he gives you any problems thank him for his time, let him know that you will tell *everyone* about your experience, & find a new shop. He may have made a mistake, anyone can. He may be trying to screw you, you don't want to let him near anything else you own. A lot easier than agonizing over it with your neighbors & half the internet.

I have been changing oil in my own vehicles for about 38 years, I can honestly say I have never forget to change the filter too. So I call BS on an honest mistake.
