a hell of a lot LESS strain on my wrist than the stock clutch pull and not a bit of slippage
Well the CW dropped the pressure (only by about 2 1/2 lbs over stock) but the +1 Barnett kept it from slipping.. You could have used and early spring and gotten another 1 1/2 lbs and it would have only cost you about $40 instead of $140.
I read your posts on the other site about this and did exactly that based on your input with the earlier spring, 37871-98A. I still wound up with less pull with the CW and the 480 spring than in any other configuration I tried.
And btw, the CW was installed on the stock clutch pak and didn't slip any further with a 48h cam installed and no head work. At least not until I got into the additional performance mods of head work, 57H cam, etc. That's when I switched to the Barnett +1 and the hayden chain tensioner. The hayden came out with about 1500 miles on it and it still making ridiculous noises. Wound up doing as Ray did and welded the stock chain tensioner.
Pretty sad when the stock clutch pak won't hold with something as mild as only a 48H cam installed regardless of what the cause for it is aside from maladjustment.

I'm happy with the CW and 480, works for me..
Well there is always manufacturing tolerances I guess.. Would have been nice to see what the measured differences were.. Maybe your 480 lb spring was a little light? If you still have the 98a spring, what marking does it have on it? What is it's thickness? Is it possible they may have subbed a 37871-04..
Max I bought it new and it was sealed in the pack so I didn't check on the possibility of it being a different part # other than what was on the sealed package. Don't remember what markings were on it and I do have it around here somewhere, so I'll dig it up. But I do remember it having a yellow dot. And truthfully, I don't have an accurate way of measuring the force without going buy another damn specialty tool I'll only use once.
My 2001 RK clutch has over 50K miles and has started slipping. I've got SE-204 cams and 95" kit. I'm looking for recommendations for clutch pack kits. I'm not a street racer, so I'm not really wanting to spend big dollars, just a good reliable replacement for a reasonable price. What brand and a source please.

The stock Harley plates with a AIM 68LT lock up clutch will give a lighter clutch lever pull and a stronger clutch, giving you more life on your clutch plates.

Hate to say it but it looks like they gave you an 04 which is the same as the one that came with your bike..
A caliper is 10 bucks from HF.. The 10 dollar ones aren't as nice as the older $15 ones tho...
Barnett kevlar extra plate. Stock clutch pull. Zero slippage. Very easy install. Like other guys are saying, though, make sure yours is adjusted before you do anything else. Let it sit overnight, then follow the manual.Replaced mine at about 65000 miles, and it still had plenty left, I just have the HD syndrome(MORE,MORE,and MORE!!)2008 FLHT@92000miles.Still running fine.
