Default Wards Fans

I installed my Wards fans and have been watching my oil temp. It has not gone over 235 degrees, I am impressed.

I got'em on my bagger and will probably get a set for my softail too, even though that never gets as hot as the bagger....

I think they are the best looking fans and they work....!!

My bike is a little noisy with V&H dresser duals, twin slash mufflers, and Woods 222 cams, I'm tempted to install these fans. Will I hear them? Also, will I feel the hot air blowing out the right side of the bike?

I've had my Wards fans for coming on two years now. They're the single best and most important thing you can do to keep the motor cool. Next is an oil cooler, then a Stage I.

My bike (set-up is listed below) runs 25-30* cooler with the oil cooler and Wards fans combined. The single biggest contributor to that is the Wards fans (probably 20*) and the oil cooler pushes it up to as much as 30* cooler on a hot day. In super brutal conditions like crawling in stop n go in 100*+ temps it's probably 40* cooler than it would be without those two things.

Excessive heat is a total non-issue now. I don't even think about heat anymore at all under any circumstances.

Since the Wards fans are designed around pushing are through the port holes/channels in the heads, I wonder how effective they would be for those that have added the head bolt chrome covers that fill that gap where the spark plugs go. It seems with that add-on, the fans wouldn't be able to get air into the port as it is blocked other than the hole for the plugs.

Anyone have these installed with that area filled and can comment on this?

Thanks

Spot on observation, and I always recommend against the head bridge covers, however some customers have left them on and have reported they are still happy with the results. I only recently established a valid dynamic testing method to show performance with and without fans. With my recent back injury, and some new competing demands on my time, I cant conduct a test anytime soon with and without the bridge covers. My assumption is cooling performance will be negatively affected however until its specifically tested, its just an assumption.

Very interesting. I never thought about this, but what you are saying is, if you forget about the fans for a minute, those bridge covers retain a not insignificant amount of heat.

I like my bridge covers, but now you have me thinking about taking them off!
