Default My 2014 SGS is a piece...

...of art.

I did lots of research prior to buying my bike, as all my experience was on crotch rockets.

I ordered my bike in January and picked it up about 2 weeks ago. I have about 700 miles on it and I keep expecting to be disappointed because of all the hater's comments... but I just keep riding!

I expected my radio would suck, but I can hear it doing 75 MPH down the highway.

I imagined the buffeting would nearly rip my head off, but it's the same as on every other motorcycle I've been on... it's wind in your face.

I thought the ride would be harsh and the seat uncomfortable, but even with myself (260#) and my wife (170#) on the bike, she found the ride extremely comfortable... even with the stock seat and the fact that I forgot to adjust the rear shock for the two of us. The stock seat is a little soft for me, but it's not bad. My wife has an Audi TTS Convertible and she made the comment that my bike rides smoother than her car.

I thought the bars would be so uncomfortable, I couldn't ride 100 miles without all sorts of back pain, but the only thing that's uncomfortable for me is the wrist angle. Full Disclosure: I do have Vindikta's waiting to install in a few weeks.

I've not had the fork lock screw up, the radio volume not work, or the hydraulic clutch stop working.

My dealer has went above and beyond to be helpful with any questions; when I wanted to try out a backrest, the Parts Guy said they're on backorder, but he offered me his own brand new unused one for a week and if I liked it, I could purchase his and he'd deal with backorder issues for his own.

Sure, I'd like to have another 30 HP and get 150 MPG... who wouldn't? But, I'm LOVING this bike.

Anybody thinking about buying the new Rushmores: read less and ride more.

My wife laughs because I just take off at night and ride for a few hours with nobody by my side and no destination in mind.

It's funny. I was never a Harley hater, but i did swear that I would never own one and get caught up in the the Harley "hype". I came off 600 Sportbikes and then moved to a sport cruiser. All my buddies were on Harley's.....so I bought the only one that appealed to me at the time, the Vrod. I traded that for a FatBob, then traded that for a Street Glide for the bags and fairing/radio. Guess what? I own a Harley and hate to admit it, but am caught in the hype! I also have never been happier on a bike!

Me too. I criticized them constantly. Then came the day when I traded my 1939 Chevy for a 98 softail springer. I got rid of my Honda and have had three Harleys. I love my 2014 SGS. Nothing rides like a Harley.

I am with you all the way. I have had zero issues with the bike. And the infotainment issues are just my learning curve of the system. My dealer has been great, the bike has been great.

Me too, I used to be a die hard criticizer and then the internet was there to help me figure out why they design the motors the way they do and with youtube videos on how to work on them. I call it evolution and growth and I now can ride a bike that gives me wood and wrench it thanks to the internet and this forum......hoorahh

Well said. For the love of riding. I know guys who buy there Harleys so they can BE in a club. Its not about the riding for them. its more about wearing the cut than the actual riding. NOT all clubs but we all know a few of these guys who pose. Hats off to ya. stay safe and enjoy your piece of american heritage.

baldguy13, there is a theme on the forum that usually results in beating up the Harley Davidson brand. 1. what motorcycle do you think I need? 2. How do I re engineer it because I cant ride it and it doesnt fit? 3. what tools do I need? 4. How do I replace? 5. How do I repair what I tried to replace? 6. I know more than a certified MMI graduate because I look on the internet while I'm in my prairie dog cubicle. LOL!
It's a great motorcycle and will give you years of fun....ride the hell out of it.
