after riding a 14 limited up hills with the wife and fully loaded im in need of cams! i was able to pull hills in 6th around 65ish mph without hesitation and just a small amount of throttle. ive been considering the woods 777's but unclear about tuning. currently i have a high flow A/C and a set of big radius pipes with a PV, i know i lose a little from the pipes but i like the sound of them! my question is do i need to get it dyno tuned after the cams for sure or will the base map from dynojet be good enough to start a few autotune runs?
I am by NO means an expert, but would think you need a new PV tune... Got PV too, no cams though
did you buy at FM? if so, shoot them an email and they will respond I can guarantee you...
Downshift..at 65 MPH you are at the bottom of the power band ( 2507 rpms) that bike'll pull strong up to 5000 rpms no problem...5th gear would still be below 3000 rpms at 65.
You pipe choice probably gets you better use of power at higher rpms ( but i wonder if the noise level of your pipes keeps you from using the higher rpm ranges?)
( and you can control your speed by closing your throttle rather than "coasting" or "floating" and using your brakes to slow...you want cool brakes in the canyons)
the 2014 FLHTK has cams similar to the screaming eagle 255's.
so research if you will realize any real gains with a cam swap.
the power vision is sold as the "next generation" tuner so it should be able to self-compensate for bolt on motor parts

AAWAV- i should have bought it from them i didn't find them till a few days afteri started using my tuner! so they wont help i have to pay per map now
MK- i actually had to cruise the entire time in 5th on my 12 SG but this 14 limited had no problem didnt feel sluggish or like the rpm was to low as it was about 2400-2500 i feel like the cams are what helped since they are close to the 255's
EVIL- i emailed dynojet and they said the can email a base map i just dont know if it will be close enough to fine tune it with the autotune
I think the solution here is kind of self evident. Get rid of those big radius pipes and get your bottom end torque back. If what others say the FLHTK cams being similar to the SE255s you are not going to find anymore bottom end torque in another set of cams.
how do you figure it wouldn't gain any power? crank power is crank power, if say my stock 103 puts out 70hp and 80 ft pounds at the flywheel wouldn't cams bump this!?!? lets call it 90 hp and 110 ft pounds with cams.... a gain is a gain.... i like my pipes and wouldnt change them to anything that exits under the bags.... i gained putting them on over stock, shouldnt i expect a gain with cams!?
yep just needs a little more power, too be at or slightly above the new 14's cams will increase the power output at 2500 rpm and up from what it currently puts out. My question is about the tuning since i have a pv already.

Because it's usable power where you ride that counts not peak numbers. Peak numbers are irrelevant unless you are drag racing and ride the power band. For pure low end touring grunt pretty much nothing beats the 255s although a few match it.
